Key Teachings

Justification by faith: The belief that through Christ, we are forgiven and reconciled to God.

Sanctification: The ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life, leading them to grow in grace and to live a life that reflects the love and holiness of God.

Connectionalism: Methodism is a ‘connectional’ church, meaning it values relationships and partnerships between its members, congregations and communities, emphasizing that we are stronger together in faith and mission. At the heart of Methodism is its doctrine of salvation. John Wesley emphasized that salvation is not just about being “saved” from sin, but about the total transformation of a person’s life. Salvation is a journey that begins with a personal encounter with Jesus Christ but continues as God works in our lives to make us more like Christ.

In Knysna we strive to uphold this belief in reflecting that faith without works is dead
