Colossians 3: 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity
The Knysna Methodist Outreach Association (KMO) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2013 in close partnership with the Knysna Methodist Church, a congregation deeply committed to uplifting the underprivileged in the greater Knysna community.
KMO was established with a clear and compassionate mission:
To provide community service through the creation and support of community-based initiatives in the fields of education and livelihoods enhancement.
Driven by this vision, KMO supports a wide range of impactful programmes, including:
Soup kitchens providing nutritious meals to the most vulnerable.
Early childhood education and nurturing through support for preschools.
Financial assistance to local charitable organisations, amplifying the reach and effectiveness of grassroots efforts.
Through these initiatives, KMO seeks to build a stronger, more equitable community—empowering individuals and offering hope where it’s needed most.
Rainbow of Hope Early Learning Centre – Building Bright Futures

The Rainbow of Hope Early Learning Centre is the flagship outreach project of Knysna Methodist Outreach, located in the heart of the underprivileged Nekkies community.
This vibrant and nurturing space is a fully registered Grade R class with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) since 2014. It currently accommodates 33 learners, aged five to seven, all from families in need. The teacher, Nomfu Loyilani, is a qualified Grade R teacher with a B.Ed. Foundation Phase degree, offering a structured, pre-primary education in a safe and caring environment.
A nutritious breakfast of E-pap and a cooked lunch ensure the learners are well-nourished and ready to play and learn every day.
The centre also offers full aftercare, which provides additional support to both children and their families.
The financial support for Rainbow of Hope is made possible through the generosity of Knysna Methodist Church tithing, reliable donors and a 6 monthly subsidy by the WCED. A dedicated team of volunteers manage the day to day running of the school. Together, they are helping to shape a brighter, more hopeful future for the next generation.

These vital services are made possible entirely through the generosity of KMC tithing, reliable donors, and a team of dedicated volunteers. Together, they are helping to shape a brighter, more hopeful future for the next generation.
Seed of Hope – Growing Food, Skills, and Community in Hornlee

Based at the Hornlee Methodist Church, the Seed of Hope project has been sowing change since July 2021. This powerful partnership between Knysna Methodist Outreach NPO, Knysna Rotary, and Growing Upwards NPO has transformed a 240m² plot into an organic food garden that nourishes both body and spirit.
The garden supports the on-site Methodist soup kitchen, which operates three days a week and feeds over 1,500 people every month—including preschoolers and vulnerable parishioners.
But Seed of Hope goes beyond food relief. It also serves as a training hub for the Growing Upwards Gardening and Entrepreneurial Skills course, empowering community members with the knowledge and tools to grow their own food and create sustainable livelihoods. Training is delivered in three languages, making it accessible and inclusive.
Together, Rotary, Knysna Methodist Outreach, and Growing Upwards are cultivating hope, resilience, and self-reliance in the heart of Hornlee.

Feeding Schemes – A Mission of Compassion
Feeding and caring for the underprivileged has long been at the heart of the Knysna Methodist Church’s mission. For over 20 years, the church has been actively involved in supporting and managing feeding programmes across the greater Knysna community.
What began as a humble effort to serve the poor has grown into a comprehensive feeding initiative under the umbrella of Knysna Methodist Outreach (KMO). Today, these efforts include:
A dedicated feeding centre at Hornlee Methodist Church, where two committed women from the local congregation prepare and serve meals to approximately 100 people, three times a week
Weekly food parcels delivered to families in urgent need These feeding schemes provide not just nourishment, but also hope, dignity, and connection for those who need it most.
